Hey ladies I hope you had a wonderful Thanksgiving. I certainly did, in fact, I have just gotten back in town and gotten settled. I didn't make it to church this morning and I honestly am not sure where I can meet you there this week. I hope you all will forgive me, this slipped up on me and I forgot to get a bulletin to see what's going on this week. These are the things I can think of off the top of my head.

Wednesday night-LDI
Wednesday night- College and career study
This weekend - Youth dinner drama.
Friday- prayer at noon in sanctuary(?)

I will be back on track next week. Have a great week.

My favorite part of prayer is praise. Here are some Scripture-based sentences as "praise starters".

1. God the Creator."Creator God, I praise You because you made the heavens, even the highest heavens, and all their starry host, the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them. You give life to everything, and the multitudes of heaven worship you:(Neh. 9:6)

2. The Only God. " God I praise You because You are the LORD, and there is no other; apart from You there is no God" (Is 45:5)

3. The Almighty God. "O LORD, God Almighty, who is like You? You are mighty, O LORD, and your faithfulness surrounds you" (Psalm 89:8)

4. The everlasting Father, the Ancient of Days. "I praise You , Lord, as the Ancient of Days(Dan. 7:9) the Everlasting Father(Is. 9:6) who lives forever and ever."

5. A Loving God. " I praise You because You are a loving God, whose very nature is love" (1 Jn. 4:16)

Lord you are amazing.

With today being "Black Friday" I thought we could all use some helpful shopping tips.

Top 10 Christmas Shopping Mistakes
Don't fall for these shopping traps
from daveramsey.com on 11 Nov 2008

Here are the top 10 Christmas shopping mistakes and how you can act differently:

1. Not prioritizing. Instead of getting stressed out with all the parties, baking and shopping in addition to your normal daily life, set some priorities before you're bombarded with a million requests. Think about what things are "must do" and which are "would be nice to do." It's all right to say no to keep yourself sane. Shopping for gifts is more fun when you're not completely stressed out.
2. Not having a budget written down. Before you make a gift list and head to the mall, set aside a reasonable amount of money for gifts. Make a commitment that you won't add $20 to the fund every week just because you saw something cute that your niece would love. Print off free budgeting forms here
3. Using credit cards. Once you have your budgeted amount of money, stay away from credit cards! You will still spend 12-18% more if you use plastic and you'll be paying it off come 2009! Doesn't paying with cash and going on about your day sound more relaxing than having a credit card balance looming over your head through the holidays? You betcha.
4. Buying for everyone. Do you really need to buy gifts for every family member and friend you have? That can get overwhelming and expensive for everyone. Talk with them about this and work toward an agreement to draw names for gifts or donate money to a common cause.
5. Not listening. Listen to the hints your loved ones drop about what they need or want this year. Maybe your aunt Sally mentioned in July that she would love someone to help her in the garden or cousin Bob keeps losing guitar picks. A thoughtful gift like this will mean a lot to the person.
6. Not having a thought-out list on paper. If you think you can spend time in "Christmas retail world" and not get distracted by all the shiny toys, you're in for a big surprise! You'll be more likely to buy impulsively if you do it that way. Write down what each person you're buying for would like and stick to the list. Stay focused!
7. Not shopping around. "Shopping around" doesn't mean you have to spend 24 extra hours running from store to store to save 10 cents. Take a look at your gift list and do some comparative price-checking online before you head out into the retail and traffic madness. This will save you money, time, and stress!
8. Waiting until the last minute. Giving the gift of procrastination is not the most appealing gift out there. Don't find yourself stressed out on Christmas Eve just because you didn't invest a little bit of time to plan.
9. Forgetting to plan for next year. Be on the lookout for outrageous sales on things your loved ones will need throughout the next year. If you time the sales just right and clip some coupons, you could land a major discount on something you were going to buy in a few months for a birthday or wedding gift. Remember to have a list and budget for this, too.
10. Forgetting why we celebrate. If this season becomes all about shopping and gifts, you've missed the whole point. People not things matter. The miraculous birth of a baby who changed the world is what matters.

Happy Thanksgiving
The Women's Leadership Team hopes you have a great Thanksgiving. We have shared what we are thankful for and encourage you to leave a comment about what you are thankful for.

Thanksgiving: we give glory to God for what He has done for us.

I'm thankful for HIM saving me, my husband, my daughters Dena and Zoe and my mother!!! That the Father has given each of us to Jesus and He will never let us go!!!

I'm thankful that Jesus wants to hear my voice and saves me each day from myself!!! He has given me a spirit of joy over a spirit of despair!!!

I'm thankful that my Jesus listened to my prayers today and then confirmed HIS Presence and concern for me by letting go of two shooting stars at 4:35 am this morning--for me to see!!! He knows how to show off!!! (Why was I up so early? Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) has a leader's meeting; and speaking of BSF, if you are not in a Bible Study, Monday eve 12/7 (6:45-8:45) is an intro for the Book of John at Westover Church. I'm very thankful for BSF! He has taught me so much in each study!!!

Tammy

I am full of thanks today for:

1) My eternal redemption by Jesus Christ on Calvary
2) An amazing, Godly husband to share life with on earth
3) Two fantastic sons which God gave me the privilege of being their mother
4) Two Godly parents who raised me in a Christian home where they practiced what they preached
5) An opportunity to serve the Lord at Cornerstone, for such a time as this
Happy Thanksgiving,
Pam

Here are a few of the things I am thankful for
1. My salvation and my relationship with Christ.
2. My healthy, loving family. I see God working in it daily.
3. My church home.
4. A warm place to live, a place to run, good food to eat, and a country where I can freely worship.
Love
Cassy

I am thankful
1. That my husband has a job he loves that provides our needs.
2. That I get to stay home with my three children.
3. For a God that loves me and wants a relationship with me.

Happy Thanksgiving
Tara

Hard to limit this! I am thankful for....
1. Total, unlimited access to God at any time!
2. A family that loves the Lord and desires to have His will in each of our lives
3. Praising and worshipping God through song
Suzanne

Many things I have to be very Thankful for, however the things that come to mind that are very important and special blessings are:

That no matter where our children are in life, their age, or how far away from God they are, HE is still pursing and calling them back to Himself. We can pray confidently in that promise and find peace in it.

The unexplainable Blessings we experience when He calls us to serve someone in His name, bringing Him the Glory that is due Him. I pray for as many opportunities as He will give me this Thanksgiving and Christmas to reach out in His name and Bless someone: by helping provide for someone in need, loving or encouraging someone, praying for others, or sharing the Gospel. When you realize that he allowed you to participate with Him and feel the Blessing it is truly a WOW feeling only He can give.

The importance of sharing life with others: family, friends and the Body of Christ

Thankful for each of the Ladies He has called together to lead the Women's Ministry at Cornerstone, their hearts of love and caring for their sister's in Christ.

The poem about "what kind of impact can I only one person do to make a difference". We underestimate the Power of God at work in our lives and when you combine us together as His Body, He accomplishes Great and Mighty things that TRULY DO MAKE A BIG DIFFERENCE IN OUR WORLD.

Love and Blessings to you and your family

Naomi

I wanted to send you items I am thankful for, the list is long but I am picking a few to give you.
My husband

God's blessings & His faithfulness.

How important is your health?

A few years ago I had pain in the soles of my feet. It had been there for many, many years (decades!) but it was worse that summer being barefoot, on hardwood floors, etc.

The foot doctor (podiatrist) said it was a skeletal problem but he was able to do several simple procedures through a few short office visits and the pain is gone. All gone.

I tell you this because it is amazing to me now that I did not see a doctor sooner. For years my feet hurt but I was always "just too busy" or "didn't have the money" or was "afraid it would hurt." And so I dealt with it. I wish I had taken care of myself sooner.

As women, we're often too involved with caring for others to look at our own needs. Your health is important! If you have a concern that needs to be looked at, call a doctor today. If you're worried about money, ask if there's a payment plan. If you don't have the time, go on your lunch hour and eat a bag lunch in the car. Just go! You'll be glad you did. I know I am. Every day.
